EU allocates €40 million in humanitarian aid for Ukraine ahead of winter  - 1

The European Commission announced that it is providing €40 million in humanitarian aid for Ukrainian citizens to prepare for the upcoming winter, BTA reports.

The funding will be channeled through the EU's humanitarian partners and will cover:

  • shelter and repair of damaged homes and centers for displaced people;

  • improved access to water, sanitation and heating;

  • supply of solid fuels, heating appliances and insulation materials;

  • cash assistance and opportunities for emergency heating.

Priority will be given to the elderly, children, people with disabilities and families living in dormitories.

The EU has already sent over 156,000 tonnes of humanitarian supplies to Ukraine, including:

  • 9,342 power generators,

  • 6,917 transformers,

  • millions of energy-saving LED bulbs.

The total value of humanitarian aid provided to Ukraine and its neighbouring countries exceeds four billion euros. As part of the medical evacuation, more than 4,500 patients were transferred for treatment to hospitals in 22 European countries.
