US President Donald Trump said that his patience with Russian leader Vladimir Putin is "running out" due to the lack of progress in resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
"My patience with Putin is running out, and running out quickly," Trump said on Fox News, expressing disappointment with the "slow process" of negotiations and the lack of concrete results.
His comment comes after the September 10 incident, when about twenty Russian drones entered NATO airspace over Poland. While Trump initially suggested it might have been "a mistake," Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski responded: "No, it wasn't a mistake." Moscow denies involvement and has described the accusations as "baseless".
We recall that Trump periodically announces deadlines for ending the war in Ukraine or for deciding on strict sanctions against Russia, but no such sanctions have been introduced, except for higher tariffs against India because it buys Russian oil.
Currently, the negotiation process that began between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul has been practically interrupted, after no progress was achieved during these negotiations except for the exchange of prisoners of war and the bodies of dead soldiers.
Donald Trump's special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, was on a visit to Kiev, but no official information emerged from there about the purpose of the talks, and the US clearly warned Slovakia and Hungary that they should stop buying Russian energy sources and pouring money into the Kremlin's military machine.
