Charlie will forever remain a martyr after his death, said the widow of the American right-wing activist, Erica Kirk.
„Charlie always said that when he goes, he wants to be remembered for his courage and faith“, she said in her first public appearance since her husband's murder. „From now on and forever, he will stand by his Savior with a beautiful martyr's crown.“
Kirk, 31, was shot on September 10 during a speech at a university in Orem, Utah. He died in hospital from his wound. The conservative activist was a supporter of US President Donald Trump.
Trump noted on September 11 that Kirk played an important role in conducting an election campaign among young people. The American leader called the activist's activities “an important factor“ in his success in winning the support of young people in the presidential election.
The suspect in the murder, 22-year-old Utah resident Tyler James Robinson, was detained on the evening of September 11. He was handed over to authorities by his own father, to whom the son confessed to the crime. Trump said he hoped the criminal would be found guilty and sentenced to death.
