Subaru has unveiled its most powerful car yet

The Japanese did it at the New York Auto Show

Subaru literally blew up the podium at the New York Auto Show, presenting the most powerful weapon in its history. The new flagship Getaway is a bold crossover that promises the dynamics of a race car, packaged in the practical body of a family giant. According to colleagues from The Drive, this three-row model with seven seats is based on the same modern platform that the Toyota Highlander EV uses, and its market debut is planned for the end of 2026.

The Getaway's design is a breath of fresh air for the Japanese brand, relying on extremely stylish and elegant lines that make it one of the company's most beautiful models to date. The interior is a true technological haven – A 12.3-inch digital cluster is located in front of the driver's eyes, while the center of the dashboard is dominated by a massive 14.0-inch touchscreen display with full Apple CarPlay and Spotify integration.

The cabin configuration offers flexibility that many can only dream of. Customers can choose between comfortable captain's chairs in the second row or a classic three-seater bench seat. An extremely convenient solution is the automatic seat slide button, which provides seamless access to the "gallery" in the third row.

Under the Subaru Getaway's sheet metal, there is real power. The debut version features two electric motors and four-wheel drive, powered by a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 95.8 kWh. The system generates an impressive 420 hp and allows a range of over 480 km on a single charge. Energy hunger is satisfied through a NACS port with a power of up to 150 kW, which means “filling“ from 10% to 80% in about half an hour. For those looking for a slightly more balanced option, a modification with a 77.0 kWh battery that retains the AWD system will also appear early next year.

The Japanese have not betrayed their off-road genes. With its 210 mm ground clearance and the advanced X-Mode system (with modes for snow, mud and deep snowdrifts), the Getaway is ready for adventures off the asphalt. The Grip Control and Hill Descent Control systems further inspire confidence, and the sprint from 0 to 97 km/h in less than 5 seconds will make even owners of sports coupes think twice.

The list of standard equipment is more than generous – from 19- or 20-inch wheels and adaptive cruise control to dual wireless charging for smartphones and ambient lighting. For connoisseurs of luxury, extras such as a huge panoramic roof, ventilation of the front and rear seats, as well as heating for passengers in all rows are provided. Subaru Getaway is not just a new model, but a request for leadership in the segment of large electric crossovers.
