Apple is looking for a successor to Tim Cook

Most likely, it will be John Ternus, senior vice president of hardware engineering

John Ternus, senior vice president of hardware engineering, may replace Tim Cook, CEO of the American technology giant Apple, Bloomberg reports.

One of the main questions at Apple today is who will lead the corporation if Cook steps down as CEO. Cook will turn 65 in 2026 and he has no clear successor. In case of emergency, COO Sabih Khan and head of retail Deirdre O'Brien could provide interim leadership. The CEO position is expected to be taken over by John Ternus, senior vice president of hardware engineering, as part of the formal process.

After stepping down as CEO, Tim Cook is expected to retain his influence at the company, possibly taking over as chairman of the board.

Tim Cook took over as CEO of Apple in 2011, succeeding founder Steve Jobs. Under his leadership, Apple became the world's first company with a market capitalization of $3 trillion, and the iPhone became one of the most successful consumer products in history. Before joining Apple in 1998, Cook spent 12 years at IBM and held senior positions at Intelligent Electronics and Compaq.
