The courier service company Wolt announced the complete cessation of its operations in two major markets - Japan and Uzbekistan. The announcement appeared on the company's mobile app.
Orders will not be placed through the Wolt app or official website in Uzbekistan starting March 5, 2026. The company noted that the decision has been finalized and the service will cease operations in the country.
“Due to the specific market conditions in Uzbekistan, we have concluded that we cannot consistently maintain a level of service in line with our standards,“ Wolt said, according to Gazeta.uz.
The company, which has been operating in over 30 countries since 2014, called the closure a difficult decision.

Wolt CEO Natalia Khizanishvili announced the closing of the Japanese branch on her page on LinkedIn.
“Today we announced the closure of Wolt's operations in Japan as part of a broader strategic review of our international business. This was a difficult decision and reflects the incredible work our team has done over the years. For example, the Japanese team played a key role in creating our mascot Juho, for the initial launch, as well as introducing completely new services to the industry, such as in-store pricing. It has also been a great honor for me to lead the business and the team over the past 2 years. Together we have built something we are truly proud of, and have brought excellent service and innovation to the country since our initial launch here 6 years ago,“ the statement said.
