Lithuania has signed a contract with the United States to supply the Baltic republic with a second battery for MLRS HIMARS, the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense announced.

"For 280 million euros, we are buying a second HIMARS battery. The previously purchased first battery should arrive in Lithuania this year. "In this way, we are investing in the future of the country's defense, in deterrence and strengthening defense capabilities together with NATO's eastern flank allies," Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas was quoted as saying in the statement.

The package includes launch platforms, missiles of various types and characteristics, control and communication equipment, as well as training for combat crews.

In 2022, Vilnius signed the first agreement with the manufacturer of the MLRS HIMARS Lockheed Martin to purchase these systems for $495 million. A second contract has been concluded with the same supplier.
