More and more people have been choosing a yacht vacation in the last few years. Can we talk about a new fashion in summer tourism?
Absolutely! A yacht vacation is no longer some exotic, but a real and desired choice for more and more people. Especially after the pandemic, many people are looking for more personal, independent and luxurious ways to relax – and a yacht offers exactly that. Waking up with a view of the endless blue, away from the crowds, with the freedom to choose where to anchor... Well, this has already become a symbol of the true summer dream.
Is this an expensive pleasure?
It depends on the point of view. Yes, it would be more expensive than a standard 4-star hotel vacation, but we're not talking about something unattainable. The truth is that there are yacht vacations for all budgets - from more affordable charters with a friendly company to luxurious private cruises with a crew. When you divide the price between several people, it often comes out completely comparable to a higher-class hotel, but with much more emotions and freedom.
What kind of people choose to vacation on a yacht?
Very different – and that's exactly the charm. We have young couples who want romance, families with children who love adventures, groups of friends who are looking for something new and more exciting. Of course, let's not forget business people who are looking for peace and solitude. A yacht is a stage on which everyone can write their own summer story.
What are the most preferred destinations?
Greece is always a classic – it's close, has countless islands and charming bays. Croatia is perfect for longer cruises with historic ports and crystal clear water. Turkey also offers a unique combination of east and west, culture and nature. And recently we have noticed interest in lesser-known routes – Montenegro, Albania, even our own Black Sea coast.
How is such a vacation different from a traditional one?
With the feeling of freedom. It's like you're the captain of your time - today you're in a secluded bay, tomorrow - on a wild beach where there's no one. There are no schedules, no programs - everything happens according to your rules. And the best thing - the sea becomes your home, and every morning you wake up to the sound of the waves and see a new horizon.
It is no secret that Bulgaria still has too few marinas. How can the state support this niche so that we become competitive in the region?
First, with a vision and consistent policy. We need investments in infrastructure, simplification of procedures and clear legislation. We have huge potential, a wonderful climate and destinations waiting to be discovered. If the state creates a favorable environment, the private sector will enter with force. Thus, Bulgaria can appear on the world stage as a country in which yacht tourism is well developed.
You recently celebrated 4 years since the creation of the only yacht magazine in our country "YACHTS Bulgaria", of which you are the publisher. What are your ambitions for the next four years?
Oh, dreams are big – and maritime! We want YACHTS Bulgaria to be not just a magazine, but a platform – a place where people, ideas and adventures meet. We work on digital projects, video content, partnerships with international brands. And most of all - we want to tell even more Bulgarian stories from the sea. Because yachts are not just luxury - they are a way of thinking, of life. And we are here to inspire.
