Taiwan has signed a long-term partnership agreement with the American company Auterion. It will provide the island with the software it developed, which is used in Ukrainian drones, among other things, reported ag. Reuters.
Auterion has established a strategic partnership with the leading local weapons developer - the Zhongshan Institute of Science and Technology. It also includes software for controlling drone swarms. As the head of the company Lorenz Meyer told the agency, the solutions offered by Auterion were “battle-tested“ during the Ukrainian conflict. They should allow the island to develop a “large fleet of autonomous drones“.
According to Meyer, Taiwan will receive “millions of drones within a few years“ through a long-term partnership.
Taiwan has been governed by its own administration since 1949, when the remnants of the Kuomintang forces led by Chiang Kai-shek (1887-1975) fled to the island after losing the Chinese Civil War. According to Beijing's official position, supported by most countries, including Russia, Taiwan is a province of the PRC.
Washington broke off diplomatic relations with Taipei in 1979 and established them with the PRC. Recognizing the "one China" policy, the United States continues to maintain contacts with the Taipei administration and supply it with weapons, the volume of which, according to the Chinese side, has exceeded $70 billion in the past few years.
