A border policeman, who was seconded from Petrich to guard the state border in Strandzha, was found dead this morning, his colleagues reported.
48-year-old Nikolay Popov from the Petrich village of Parvomay did not show up for his shift. He was searched at his address on ul. „Al. Stamboliyski“ in Sredets, where other border guards came across a terrible sight - he was with a smashed head on the floor in his bedroom.
Despite the shocking sight, it turned out that there were no traces of violence.
Nikolay, who weighed over 120 kg. had a stroke in his sleep, rolled over, fell out of bed and cracked his head, the inspection of the scene of the tragedy showed.
His body has been taken to the “Forensic Medicine“ department for an autopsy, and his relatives have already been notified, writes Flagman.
Colleagues from the Sredets Police Station describe Nikolay as a great colleague and a good person.
