Bulgaria and Vietnam signed eight bilateral agreements

The signing of the documents is part of the official visit of Tho Lam to Bulgaria

Bulgaria and Vietnam signed eight bilateral documents on cooperation in various areas at a ceremony at the Council of Ministers today. The event was attended by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov and Secretary General of the Communist Party of Vietnam Tho Lam, who held a meeting, followed by a conversation between the two plenary delegations, BTA reported.

"We will outline the specific guidelines for upgrading ties in a wide range of priority areas - political dialogue, economy, trade, security and defense, innovation, information technologies, digital transition, science, education, culture, agriculture, healthcare, relations between local authorities", noted Prime Minister Zhelyazkov.

The Ministries of Defense of Bulgaria and Vietnam signed a Letter of Intent to expand military cooperation. On the Bulgarian side, the document was signed by Radostin Iliev, Deputy Minister of Defense, together with Phan Van Zang, Minister of Defense of Vietnam.

A Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of cybersecurity and the fight against high-tech and cybercrime was signed by the Minister of Interior Daniel Mitov and his Vietnamese counterpart Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security.

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the two countries – Georg Georgiev and Le Hoai Chung exchanged an Amendment and Supplement to the Agreement between the Government of Bulgaria and the Government of Vietnam on mutual exemption from visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and service passports.

A Memorandum of Understanding on Digital Cooperation was signed by the Minister of Electronic Governance Valentin Mundrov and Nguyen Manh Hung, Minister of Science and Technology of Vietnam.

The Minister of Labor and Social Policy Borislav Gutsanov and Truong Hai Long, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Vietnam, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Labor and Social Affairs.

An Annex to the Agreement on Scientific Cooperation between the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences for the period 2027-2029 was signed by Prof. Emmanuel Mutafov, Vice President of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, and Chan Hong Thai, Executive Vice President of the VANT.

A Memorandum of Understanding and Friendly Cooperation between the Regional Administration – Pernik and the People's Committee of Phu Tho Province was signed by Lyudmil Veselinov, Regional Governor of Pernik, and Truong Quoc Huey, Party Secretary of Phu Tho Province.

The signing of the documents is part of the official visit of To Lam to Bulgaria, which is taking place in the context of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Earlier this week, Bulgaria and Vietnam elevated their bilateral relations to the level of strategic partnership.
