The black statistics on the road continue to grow at an alarming rate, with 400 people losing their lives in road accidents in the country since the beginning of the year. This was stated by the former director of the "Traffic Police" Eng. Alexi Kesyakov, quoted by NOVA. Since the beginning of November alone, there have been 27 road fatalities.

According to the expert, the main reason for the high mortality rate remains the human factor. "People overestimate their capabilities behind the wheel and mistakes are made related to arrogance or lack of knowledge," commented Eng. Kesyakov. He stressed that despite the improved behavior of drivers on highways, reckless speeding continues to be a leading factor in serious accidents.

The alarming data show that Northwestern Bulgaria ranks first in road mortality in all of Europe. Kesyakov also paid special attention to the responsibility of drivers towards passengers in the car.

"There are mass accidents when "dad", "mom" is behind the wheel. The one who drives must protect the passenger. Let there be a double fine for a violation when you are driving a passenger", suggested the former head of the Traffic Police.

Regarding infrastructure, Kesyakov was categorical that drivers must comply with the available conditions. "Someone must improve our traffic safety. Let us comply by choosing our speed. The road infrastructure is as it is. If something is not clear to us, we must reduce it," he urged.

Regarding the problems with parking in the capital and large cities, the expert insisted on the creation of a global strategy. According to him, accelerated construction of rings is necessary to remove transit traffic from city centers, as well as the construction of multi-storey car parks.
