Petar Cholakov: Borisov kept all the cards, ensured a soft landing

Isn't it more profitable for Borisov and Peevski to be together, because otherwise, if they split up, they become easier to attack by political opponents

After the fall of the government, the key thing is that Boyko Borisov kept all the cards, ensured a soft landing. And this scenario was clear from the very beginning. However, it was not clear how long this government would last. But the ruling party arranged people in the so-called “home book” and from then on, the parliament continues to work, the majority is the same, the caretaker government will be headed by a person elected by this majority. This was said by political scientist Petar Cholakov in “Hello, Bulgaria”.

According to sociologist Andrey Raichev, Borisov has managed not to be the subject of the negative attitude of society, only Delyan Peevski remains.

Political scientist Stoycho Stoychev is of the opinion that the early elections will take place as quickly as possible. He added that it is good for the protests to lead to organizational and electoral mobilization, so that the familiar circle does not close again.

In his words, it is right for all people who want change to indicate the parameters. “To think about who is the bearer of this change - PP-DB, another formation, the president, someone who has committed to offering an alternative. Because at the moment the only alternative was to speak - I am against the model of so-and-so - who are you. The model has already fallen, what comes in its place”, he also commented.

According to Cholakov, we should not talk about the “Peevski” model, but GERB-DPS. However, he emphasized that PP-DB are quite inclined to some type of assembly. “Now we are talking – have Borisov and Peevski broken up or not. Why should they do it. If the common enemy is Radev – this is the threat to the status quo. The other is PP-DB. Isn't it more profitable for Borisov and Peevski to be together, because otherwise, if they split up, they become easier to attack by political opponents”, he also commented.

Cholakov also added that the big risk for PP-DB is that they may find an ally in the person of Borisov against Peevski. “Okay, that means you are making a new assembly, the fight is to have no such ones”, the expert also said.

Raichev believes that the state of the judicial system is a major problem in the country. According to him, the square has made Rumen Radev the object of negative attitude towards the protesters.

“Mirchev, however, is carefully steering the boat – so that they don't quarrel with Radev”, he also said.

The other important point for the PP-DB is the uncoupling of Borisov from Peevski when resolving issues with the judicial system, because they assume that they can come to an agreement with Borisov on the issue, but not with Peevski, he commented.

The PP-DB, however, are dependent on Radev – if he enters the political arena, the coalition will forget the contradictions with him, the sociologist also believes.

Cholakov is of the opinion that the GERB leader is extremely flexible and can get along with anyone, unlike Peevski. He is of the opinion that the DB could come to an agreement with Rumen Radev, as the formation is also looking for an ally.

Stoychev believes that the most important thing at this moment is who and how he will appear in the next elections.

„Rumen Radev is giving the following signal - that he does not represent a new type of politician, he is the same as the previous ones. This is what Bulgarian politicians do - to whine until the last moment and to announce their intentions at the last moment. All European politicians declare their intentions publicly, even years before they run for office," the expert added.

Raichev pointed out that the most difficult question for Radev is who he is - president or competitor.
