Protests demanding the resignation of the acting (acting) Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov were held in Sofia, Varna and Plovdiv.
The event was organized by the "Justice for Everyone" initiative and the "Students Against the Mafia" association, under the title „Operation: Worthless“. The dissatisfied gathered at 6:30 p.m. in front of the Courthouse in the capital. The „Students Against the Mafia“ association also participated in the protest. Lawyer Emil Georgiev from "Justice for Everyone" recalled that the Constitutional Court refuses to consider opinions of Sarafov in constitutional cases, i.e. considers him illegitimate. There is a clear violation of the law with the continued usurpation of the post by Sarafov, said lawyer Georgiev and stated that they will insist tomorrow, in the first session of the year of the plenum of the Supreme Judicial Council, that an item regarding the acting chief prosecutor Borislav Sarafov be included. The protest in Sofia ended after a march to the building of the Supreme Judicial Council.
Citizens of Varna also held a silent protest in front of the Courthouse on “Nezavisimost“ Square in the city. Their main demand is the resignation of Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov. Only one of those present carried a poster with the inscription “Sarafov in prison“. Among the people in the square was Deputy Mayor Pavel Popov.
Protesters on “Saedinenie“ Square, in front of The prosecutor's office in Plovdiv also demanded that the acting Prosecutor General of Bulgaria, Borislav Sarafov, be removed from office. We oppose the control that the oligarchy exercises over the judiciary, Stoyan Stefanov, coordinator for Plovdiv of the "Students Against the Mafia" association, told BTA. The motto of the protest in Plovdiv was "We are not extras in the prosecutor's series."
