According to her, there are more points of contact between the BSP and Radev than contradictions

On the eve of the elections, one should not experiment with the new scanning devices. This was stated in “The Day Begins“ on BNT by Associate Professor Natalia Kiselova – constitutionalist, MP from “BSP - United Left” and former Speaker of the National Assembly. She called for their entry into force to be postponed in order to ensure a smooth conduct of the vote, without problems with voter registration and the method of voting.

Natalia Kiselova said that she expects more clarity from President Rumen Radev after the Constitutional Court's decision.

„I expect that after the Constitutional Court's decision is issued, we will hear more clarity from him about what his intentions are, since in his address on Monday evening he did not clarify which path he will take“, said Assoc. Prof. Kiselova.

When asked whether the BSP is most threatened by a possible party or coalition around Rumen Radev, Kiselova emphasized that the emergence of a new political player affects everyone.

„Since there is a new player, everyone should be worried, because the question of who with and against whom will be a key issue within the pre-election period campaign.“

According to her, there are more points of contact between the BSP and Radev than contradictions.

Kiselova clarified that she was speaking on her own behalf, not on behalf of the party, and recalled that she was a member of parliament from the civil quota.

She defended her actions as Speaker of the National Assembly on the occasion of the suspended referendum initiated by the president.

„There were both political and legal arguments on the issue of the referendum. The political arguments, just one stroke - 151 members of parliament supported the position of the Governor of the Bulgarian National Bank, and of the Prime Minister on May 13 - the day I issued the order with which they supported my position.

Then it was not possible to vote and end this secret?

No. Because there were less than three working weeks in which the two reports - of the European Commission and the European Central Bank - were to be released. And if we had postponed the reports, thereby submitting the request for a referendum, many, many, maybe not months, years, would have been needed to cover many of the criteria. In this sense, as a lawyer, I can say that there were arguments, I will present them, of course, at a later stage. The main one is that an issue that is resolved by an international treaty cannot be subjected to a national referendum. “

She assessed Radev's mandate as head of state as particularly difficult.

„He happened to be president in an extremely turbulent political period. The political crisis is not being cured, but is deepening.“

On the topic of her replacement as Speaker of the National Assembly, Kiselova was categorical that in politics we do not talk about justice, but about reality.

„The official entry of another parliamentary group and the declared support for the government led to the replacement of the speaker. This was stated by the leader of the PG of „DPS - New Beginning“ right from the beginning, so I do not see any drama in this.“

It became clear from her words that she has not yet decided on her future in the BSP.

She also commented on the upcoming vote and the way it will be held. According to her, the entry into force of the scanning devices in the elections should be postponed. According to her, there should be no experiments on the eve of the elections.

“On the eve of the elections - regardless of whether the elections will be on March 29 or April 19, there should be no problems with either voter registration or the method of voting.“
