"The biggest stupidity that was made was the change in the Constitution in order to repeal the president's constitutional powers not to independently choose the prime minister for the caretaker cabinet. Now politicians are looking for a way to deal with this, because GERB's proposal to elect a new speaker of parliament is very extravagant and they actually admit the mistake with the change in the Constitution". This is what former agriculture minister Mehmed Dikme said in the program "This Morning" on bTV.
"I want to congratulate the presidency, as an institution and the people who represent it, are behaving very dignifiedly. The politicians failed to make a budget, which is their job, and they are interfering in the work of the presidency," said Dikme. According to him, Yotova will find the best person for prime minister. He gave the example of Sergei Stanishev - who had no administrative, only political experience. "He was a successful prime minister for 4 years. That is, the question is whether the person will be communicative enough, because his job is not to do some grandiose things. The caretaker cabinet must organize the holding of fair parliamentary elections, so that there are no doubts in society like the last time. There is a layer of distrust in society that he did not conduct fair elections in the best way. I think the presidential institution now has clarity. The most important thing is to have your own opinion. Someone is always connected to someone, we cannot find someone equidistant, to have character, not to obey", said Dikme.
According to him, Andrei Gyurov could be a good prime minister in the caretaker cabinet. "I also put a big question mark, because this caretaker cabinet could last until the next parliamentary elections in the fall, because the antagonism between the different political formations, the fact that they cannot find a way between each other, the fact that they cannot sit down at the table to have a reasonable dialogue, a constructive dialogue, because of all this, it would be very difficult to form a new cabinet after the elections. I think this is preparation for the next elections," Dikme suspects.
According to him, Radev, no matter how much he is criticized, played his role very well: "He found the time to come out, because right now is the moment, if he doesn't come out with a political formation now, from now on there will be no chances. On the other hand, however, he gave a huge chance to the vice president, who is now president, to prove herself before the presidential elections and it is no wonder that we will have 2-in-1 elections in the fall, and even more interestingly, for me it would be quite normal for the next president to be a journalist," said Dikme.
He commented that it is not the job of the caretaker cabinet to deal with the prosecution, with services, this would be wrong. This is the job of a regular cabinet. The job of the caretaker cabinet is to calm things down, because inflation is now quite serious after 1 month in the euro. Prices are galloping, we have an unstable political situation.
"I saw Boyko Borisov twice at Tsvetanka Rizova's. I know him well, we have worked together a lot. He seemed to me like a scared person. Maybe he is scared that the time of the old politicians seems to be passing. The time comes when they have to retire, because society is looking for new faces. It is very important whether Radev will be the first political party, whether he will be in the first three - this is extremely important", commented the former minister.
According to him, the Supreme Judicial Council should have been replaced a long time ago. "Politicians should sit down and agree on how to choose a new composition".
