Residents of Elhovo protest over pothole-strewn road

Around 1,500 heavy goods vehicles pass along the road daily

Residents of Elhovo and the region are protesting over the poor condition of the road between Yambol and Elhovo. Nearly 13 kilometers of it have been dotted with dozens of patches for years, which people say create additional problems.

Around 1,500 heavy goods vehicles pass along the road daily, BNT reports. In October last year, the Yambol - Lesovo section was inspected by the “Road Infrastructure“ Agency, as part of preparations for future major repairs, but no specific deadline has been specified.

With their protest, the citizens are demanding not just another temporary patching, but a comprehensive and lasting solution for one of the important international road arteries in Southeast Bulgaria. Since the beginning of the year alone, people have protested in four different places across the country over poorly maintained or impassable roads.
