While the plenum of the Supreme Judicial Council is meeting for a session to determine a new acting Prosecutor General, protesters tried to storm the Prosecutor General's office with shouts of "Resignation" and "Sarafov out". It came to the point of police intervention, Dariknews.bg reports.
Protesters pounded on the door and called for a citizen's arrest. Expressions like "Sarafov in prison" and "The dwarf out" were heard from different sides, while the police tried to push the citizens away.
"Guard the criminals" - the citizens shouted at the police. "Arrest Sarafov", was heard in the corridors of the Supreme Judicial Council, the protesters called for a complete blockade. "Next time there should be an indefinite tent camp, occupation, we will come back again", the people threatened.
Earlier, the citizens gathered to protest in front of the Supreme Judicial Council building. The event was organized by the initiative "Justice for Everyone".
They indicated that Borislav Sarafov had "usurped the position and refuses to release it".
The association supported the actions of the Minister of Justice Andrey Yankulov, who is demanding that Sarafov resign. "Justice for Everyone" referred to the legal changes that have come into force, which prohibit the same person from holding the position of acting prosecutor general for more than six months.
