Denkov: By election day, the 32-33% that Radev currently receives is very likely to melt away significantly

Denkov even hinted that there could be a warming of relations between the parties of Rumen Radev and Boyko Borisov. "I wouldn't be surprised if there was some kind of agreement not to attack each other during the election campaign, so that they could have options for working together later."

PP-DB will categorically never work together with Boyko Borisov and Delyan Peevski again.

This was stated in the News.bg studio with host Kaloyan Konstantinov by former Prime Minister and Minister of Education from PP-DB, academician Nikolay Denkov, in connection with the upcoming parliamentary elections in the country on April 19 and a possible future coalition.

He added that their previous cooperation was imperative because then the stakes for Bulgaria's future were too high - the European development of our country was at stake. There was a danger that it would be "kidnapped to the east", like Europe by the bull (Zeus, who transformed himself - editor's note). Bulgaria's national interest is precisely Euro-Atlantic.

According to him, the compromise was worth it because the goals set for the then cabinet were met, after which they resigned so that they would not be involved in corruption schemes and other scandals.

"History has actually shown that we have the result for which we entered this government. While now there is no result for which it is worth trying to work with Borisov and Peevski. There is no way we can fight corruption with them," he said.
In this regard, Academician Denkov was evasive in answering the question whether the PP-DB will form a coalition with Rumen Radev's party. He questioned the high results that the preliminary surveys give him, but also his strategic orientation.

Radev's followers are divided into 2 main camps that contradict each other. Some are anti-European and more nihilistic, similar to "Vazrazhdane", the others are pro-European, looking for a new political face that is not worn out by the muddy political struggle. There is not the slightest compatibility between them and the former president is likely to lose a large part of one or the other camp the moment he takes firmer positions on certain foreign and domestic policy issues.

Therefore, Denkov believes that by election day, the 32-33% that Radev is currently receiving in the surveys is very likely to melt away significantly. It is precisely on this decision that it will depend whether the PP-DB will cooperate on common goals and votes, including the fight against corruption. However, he emphasized that this does not mean a common government, but a common solution to some of the problems in the country.

He even hinted that there could be a warming of relations between the parties of Rumen Radev and Boyko Borisov. "I wouldn't be surprised if there was some kind of agreement not to attack each other during the election campaign, in order to leave options for joint work later", said Denkov and emphasized the PP-DB's motto for the elections: "Strong Bulgaria in a Strong Europe".
Denkov criticized Radev for not supporting a change in the leadership of the National Agency for National Security and Defense, nor did he speak out about the replacement of Borislav Sarafov as prosecutor general.

When asked whether the presidential candidate in the next elections will be Blagomir Kotsev, Kiril Petkov or himself - Denkov said that there are still no clear candidates, but they will look for one person to represent the so-called democratic community. They will think about candidates, however, after the elections on April 19.
