The National Assembly still has a number of important tasks ahead of it, and in the meantime, political parties are sorting out their candidate lists for the upcoming elections. At the center of tension in the coalition “We continue the change – Democratic Bulgaria“ turned out to be MP Yavor Bozhankov, who commented on the situation and his relations with his partners in the studio.

From the beginning, he emphasized that he did not want to deepen the internal conflicts in the coalition.

“It is banal – I have explained the notorious vote for Silvi Kirilov hundreds of times. But there is something more important at the moment. I deeply believe that it is time to gather, not time to divide.“

According to him, the political situation in Bulgaria is extremely complex and requires more unity.

“This is not the time for scandals, because Bulgaria is in a very complicated situation - both geopolitically and domestically.“ Bojankov confirmed that there is tension over whether he will be part of the coalition lists in the next elections, specifying that the position of “We Continue the Change“ is that he should not be included.

“The categorical position of “We Continue the Change“, as far as I am informed, is that they do not want me to be part of these lists because of my vote for Silvi Kirilov.“ However, he stated that he would continue to support the coalition.

„Whether I am on or off the lists, I will work for a high electoral result for our coalition.“ According to him, there is currently no other political force that represents the democratic community in the country. „There is no other formation that represents the democratic community in the next parliament.“ He added that it is this coalition that guarantees Bulgaria's European orientation. „There is no other political entity that guarantees Bulgaria's European path.“ Bozhankov also commented on his work as an MP, pointing out one of the achievements he is proud of.

„I was the author of the declaration that Russia is a regime that supports terrorism. I managed to gather a majority and this is the official position of Bulgaria.“ At the same time, he admitted that he had not been able to push through another of his causes - related to the so-called false positive drug tests in drivers.

“I introduced a bill and two draft resolutions, but the bill was rejected, and the drafts were not even considered.“ Regarding his relations with the leadership of “Continue the Change“, including Assen Vassilev, Bozhankov confirmed that there had been talks, but did not want to reveal details. “I have talked with the leadership of “Continue the Change“, including him. But this is a personal conversation and I will not broadcast it.“ He stressed that politics should be guided by the state interest, not by personal conflicts.

At the end of the conversation, Bozhankov categorically rejected speculation that he would join other political forces. “I will neither accept nor consider such a proposal. The only political formation I would support is that of the democratic community.“
