The BSP enters the election campaign with a new chairman – Krum Zarkov, but internal disputes in the party continue. The reason for tension was the decision of the defense committee for the parliament to consider the ratification of Bulgaria's accession to Donald Trump's Peace Council.

The representative of the National Council of the BSP Nikolay Berievski, however, rejected the claims that the party is divided in the studio of "Speak Now".

"Maybe you should ask him, but I cannot agree with you that there is a split in the party. Our party on February 7, at a significant congress for me, made very important decisions. The main decision we made is that the party is moving in a completely new direction. We elected Mr. Krum Zarkov, whom I have known well for over 10 years, as our leader. He is a man who is extremely worthy and has a very strong backbone," he emphasized.

Regarding President Donald Trump's Peace Council, according to him, the BSP's position is clear - this parliament should not make such decisions:

"We have a position on the issue, clear and categorical. We are firmly against Bulgaria joining the Peace Board at the moment. This parliament is completely politically exhausted. It cannot make geopolitical decisions. All this could happen in a subsequent parliament."

Berievsky admitted that there is tension in the parliamentary group, but not a split:

"There is no split, we are all united. Yes, there is some tension within the parliamentary group, but we have completely renewed our lists and all leaders have been approved by the National Council."

According to him, the BSP will appear in the elections with new faces and a new political platform:

"Over half of the members of the Executive Bureau are there for the first time - young and prepared people. With this energy that we will demonstrate during the campaign, we will show Bulgarian citizens that the BSP is completely renewed."

He admitted that among the socialists there is a critical assessment of the party's participation in the government with GERB:

"According to the Bulgarian socialists, this was a mistake and they gave us this assessment. That is why at this congress we have outlined the new direction in which we will move."

Nikolai Berievski expressed confidence that the BSP will be among the surprises in the upcoming elections:

"The BSP will be a parliamentaryly represented party and the BSP will be the surprise in these elections. The right question is not whether we will enter parliament, but with exactly how many members of parliament."
