45 pre-trial proceedings for election crimes have been initiated. This was announced in Sliven by the acting Minister of the Interior Emil Dechev, BGNES reported.
Dechev made a comparison with the previous parliamentary elections, when on the same date, the proceedings were 4.
Dechev arrived in Sliven for the official replacement of the head of the regional directorate. Senior Commissioner Ivan Rusev will take the place of the retired Senior Commissioner Dimitar Velichkov.
In order to stop vote buying and corporate pressure, the Ministry of Interior will seek internal information from employees in large companies, and in the field it will rely heavily on non-governmental organizations and investigative journalists. Dechev also hinted at a whole series of actions, giving an example of the Sofia region.
"For example, in the Sofia region, not Sofia city. It is about lists of names of people in a private home, respectively found with banknotes, possibly for buying votes. So, the work is being done very, very energetically and I absolutely welcome this. I encourage it and will help every police officer who works in this way," Dechev also said.
