President Iliyana Yotova will visit Kyustendil on the occasion of the city's official holiday - “Kyustendil Spring“. This was announced by the press secretariat of the presidential institution.
At 11:25 a.m. Yotova will be welcomed by the mayor of the city, Ognyan Atanasov, in front of the Municipality building.
Iliyana Yotova will welcome the residents and guests of Kyustendil during the celebration of the holiday, which begins at 11:30 a.m. on the central square “Velbazhd“.
The holiday is a combination of cult practices of the Thracians and Romans and their respect for solar deities and healers, and is complemented by Christian traditions of the Middle Ages, with interpretations of the legend of the Forty Martyrs and the sanctuary dedicated to them on the hill above the city - Hisarlaka, explained the municipal administration.
The symbol of spring are the three girls, selected in a competition that took place on March 14 on stage on the central square “Velbazhd“ in Kyustendil.
Traditionally, a prayer service will be held on the holiday for the health and well-being of the residents and guests of the city.
