Zarkov from Ruse: The failed session of the National Assembly is an attack on parliamentarism

The silence of Sarafov and Rusinova is unacceptable in a democracy

„What we see every day is extremely worrying. A liter of diesel today costs 1.69 euros and is growing every day. There is no place in the country where someone has not complained - a small business, a consumer or an agricultural producer. For this reason, we from the BSP called an extraordinary session of the National Assembly, but instead personal emails were discussed. This is a manifestation of supreme misunderstanding and hellish irresponsibility - an attack on the very idea of parliamentarism.“, said the Chairman of the BSP National Assembly Krum Zarkov to the media in Ruse.

According to him, all countries in Europe are taking measures regarding the crisis - they are removing VAT, canceling excise duties, setting a price ceiling, and the European Commission has issued a statement on these issues. “We only expect compensatory measures from the government to get through this crisis, which, unfortunately, seems to be only just beginning. Our assessment for today is a failure of this National Assembly in its main task to solve the most key problem of Bulgarian citizens at the moment, namely - the issue of fuel prices, and hence all other prices.“, the socialist was categorical.

Asked about Yankulov's actions and his request to the Prosecutor's College of the Supreme Judicial Council, Zarkov replied: “The judiciary is occupied. The acting Minister of Justice tried to make the SJC comply with the law and failed. Now he is conducting another procedure - disciplinary proceedings against Sarafov. Each of Yankulov's arguments is sufficient to remove the acting prosecutor general. However, I have no illusions about how the SJC will act.“

Krum Zarkov stressed that there is no doubt about the actions of this SJC composition on the issue of Emilia Rusinova - Minister Dechev has extracted data on how the Sofia City Prosecutor traveled in a car with Pepi Euroto and she neither denies nor confirms. “Both she and Sarafov are simply silent, no one is looking for them for a comment. This silence would not be possible in any country that has the slightest claim to be called a democracy. This is an absolute shock. The next National Assembly must very quickly deal with the issue of the SJC, just as it must deal with the price and budget measures.“

Zarkov stated that the parties that are running now must stand by their promises and words both before and after the elections. “We cannot use the majority requirement as an excuse for inaction. Each party must submit its proposals, and the others must consider how to act and explain their actions.“
