The huge losses in the water supply network will stop when the unknown companies that offer to solve the problem at five times the price disappear. This was stated by the leader of "Progressive Bulgaria" Rumen Radev at a meeting with citizens in Botevgrad yesterday evening, quoted by novini.bg. At the meeting, Radev outlined key problems facing the region and indicated the necessary measures to overcome them.

According to the former president, the problem is not only infrastructural, but is directly related to the lack of transparency, control and efficiency in conducting public procurement and spending public funds. And so it comes to the reporting of over 70% losses in the water supply network.

“You cannot pay many times more for the same activity without a clear justification and this will remain without consequences”, pointed out the leader of “Progressive Bulgaria. In his words, such practices have a direct impact on the quality of life, including access to basic services, infrastructure and economic opportunities.

Rumen Radev highlighted the potential of Botevgrad as an industrial and transport center, which, however, remains unrealized due to unresolved systemic problems. “Botevgrad has a strategic geographical location and all the prerequisites for development, but the lack of adequate infrastructure and administrative pressure hinder this process”, he added. In his words, a huge public resource is leaking out and this is reflected in all spheres – education, healthcare, social policy and infrastructure.
We need to create conditions in which people choose to live and work here, and not be forced to seek fulfillment elsewhere“, said Rumen Radev.

In his speech, he emphasized the need for a comprehensive change in the governance model, which includes introducing transparent procedures in public procurement, effective control over the spending of public funds, limiting corrupt practices, creating a favorable environment for small and medium-sized businesses, as well as an active policy for attracting investments.

The leader of “Progressive Bulgaria” emphasized the need to restore justice as a basis for social development. “Without justice, there can be no sustainable development. Citizens expect not promises, but real actions and results“, he also said.

The President (2017 – 2026) and leader of “Progressive Bulgaria“ called on citizens and institutions for greater responsibility and commitment, including in the parliamentary elections. “Change requires a clear will, consistency and an active position on the part of society. Only in this way can we guarantee that public resources are used in the interest of the people“, Rumen Radev also emphasized.

Later, Rumen Radev watched a volleyball match in which the host “Balkan“ – Botevgrad defeated “Cherno more“ with 80:79 points.
