In connection with the statements of Mr. Gen. Atanas Atanasov according to national media from 27.03.2024 that it was developed by the military intelligence, we consider it appropriate to note that by law the “Military Intelligence“ does not develop Bulgarian citizens in the sense that Mr. Atanasov puts in his interview.
This is written in an official position by the "Military Intelligence" Service. on the occasion of the claims of the deputy from "We continue the change - Democratic Bulgaria" gen. Atanas Atanasov, that an investigation is being conducted against him. We publish the position without editorial intervention:
"Most likely, the specific statement was generated by the signal that the Service “Military Intelligence“ submitted to the competent authorities regarding an alleged attempt by outsiders to induce employees of the Bulgarian military intelligence to commit crimes within the meaning of the Criminal Code for unauthorized access to classified information.
Once again, an attempt is being made to damage the prestige of the Bulgarian military intelligence and damage the dignity and undisputed professionalism of all employees performing their tasks in the complex security environment.
