The state is starting to prepare pediatricians for the future National Children's Hospital through a project to promote specializations in areas with a shortage of specialists. This was explained by the Minister of Health Galya Kondeva during her meeting with representatives of the Public Council for the construction of the state medical facility.
The project has started and will continue until the end of 2028, mainly pediatric specialties will be financed.
At today's meeting, the issue of the decision given and subsequently canceled for a new private hospital in Sofia with the name "Mama and I" was not discussed.
The Chairman of the Public Council for the Construction of a National Children's Hospital, Prof. Ivan Litvinenko, explained that there are no insurmountable problems with the terrain in Gorna Banya, chosen for the construction of the state medical facility. There are two unfinished buildings that will be demolished.

To form a group of employees of the Ministry of Health to support the work on the National Children's Hospital project – this was achieved at today's meeting.
The next one will be in a week. Then the Public Council will also meet with a team of the European Investment Bank, consultant on the project.
The preparation of three strategic documents for the future hospital will be started, explained Nadezhda Rangelova and Maria Brestnichka, members of the Public Council. The term for them is between 6 and 8 months.
According to the latest requests from representatives of the Public Council, the optimal period in which the National Children's Hospital can be built and operational is 5 years.
