The second ranking for nurseries and kindergartens in Sofia will be announced today, BNR reports. 3080 seats are available. 11,193 children were accepted in the first ranking.
Sofia has 198 municipal kindergartens, which care for approximately 44,000 children.
There are 24 independent municipal nurseries. They are attended by approximately 2,000 children.
The Metropolitan Municipality continues the construction of new buildings for kindergartens, as well as the expansion of existing ones, informed Yana Genova - Deputy Mayor for Education in the Metropolitan Municipality:
"The interest and applications are greater in nursery groups. The discrepancy between desired and available free places is greater than for kindergartens. Construction and expansion and remodeling of 16 new buildings continues in the Metropolitan Municipality. By the end of the year, this means the opening of 1,400 new places.
