Seeing, the honorary chairman, that things are working out for DPS as never before, perhaps there is also some envy that things can happen under Peevski that did not happen under Dogan. Dogan never managed to get 7 district governors from DPS. Dogan never raised the topic of Kardzhali having an ethnic Turk from the DPS as regional governor, while now this is happening.” Thus, the journalist Ilhan Henday commented in the program “Without Claims” on Darik Radio the rift in relations between the honorary chairman of the DPS Ahmed Dogan and the co-chairman of the party Delyan Peevski, which led to the split of the parliamentary group with the exclusion and departure of its deputies.
When asked how they are “made” regional governors, Hendaye explained that he used the word journalistically to make it attractive to listeners, but elaborated:
“Implementation - we are talking about an interim government at the moment, which has the voice of the DPS party to solve problems in certain areas of the country. This cabinet hears the Movement for Rights and Freedoms led by Delyan Peevski”.
The tension in the DPS reached its peak after Dogan published his position on Wednesday evening, in which he demanded the resignation of Peevski and five other people from the leadership of the DPS and party bodies. In the position, Dogan also reported the use of “Moutren approaches to intimidation” and “taking away people's business with the prosecution and police services”.
“The letter itself, so written, is an image of the DPS, which is not from one year, but from the very existence of the DPS. The terminology, including the criminal approach - every leadership of the party can be blamed for the same, because there has been such a thing over the years”, said Ilhan Anday.
He reminded that there were cases in which GERB raised the alarm that ethnic Turks from mixed areas who wanted to support Boyko Borisov's party were pressured and were not even allowed to receive wood from the State Fund.
From Sarai management to the “Peevski”
style
When asked why Peevski has now become a problem for Dogan, the journalist explained:
“Because the style “Peevski” is different from the system of saryan management of DPS, where everything happens more slowly, more slowly, always connected with the honorary chairman, somehow Delyan Peevski, who is the businessman in politics and the more aggressive type, aiming to get things done quickly, obliging everyone around him to work, this made the situation nervous”, commented the journalist.
He explained that after Dogan ordered Peevski to take over the organization after Mustafa Karadayi's party chairmanship was vacated in November 2023, Peevski set conditions to remove several people who were “ DPS damage” and among whom were Ramadan Atalay, Ceyhan Ibryamov and others. Dogan then called on him to give them one last chance, and according to Henday, that last chance was the vote for a GERB-SDS cabinet on June 9, which was not supported by them. After that, the two were part of the excluded from the parliamentary group at the request of Peevski MPs.
“This is happening without a tie-up with Dogan, which makes the honorary president nervous”, Hendaye said once again.
