Native politicians and statesmen sent congratulations on the occasion of May 6 - the Day of Bravery and Holiday of the Bulgarian Army.

Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov expressed gratitude to all who defend the security of Bulgaria.

„A bow to all who gave their lives in defense of Bulgaria, and gratitude to those who still today with dignity and determination protect the security of the Motherland! With the efforts of the state, we will continue to build the country's defense capacity with a focus on ensuring national security through modernization of the Armed Forces and increasing defense capabilities. In the conditions of a complicated security environment, the government follows clear priorities – rearmament, investments in cybersecurity, development of strategic capabilities and phased resolution of long-standing problems, including vacant positions in the army. We will continue to actively participate in joint NATO and EU initiatives and ensure continuity in strategic decisions. We will continue to work for greater interoperability with allies, build infrastructure, attract and retain trained professionals and improve the social status and motivation of military personnel. Because protecting the national interest is not only a duty, but also a common responsibility! I also congratulate all the names – be healthy, strong and dignified!”, writes the Council of Ministers' Facebook profile.

The leader of „DPS-New Beginning” – Delyan Peevski, also congratulated the holiday.

„Today we celebrate the Day of Bravery and the Bulgarian Army - May 6! May Saint George the Victorious protect and give strength to all those dedicated to the cause of the security and integrity of our Motherland. But May 6th is one of the most beloved holidays. Today is also St. George's Day, Haderlez, Ederlezi - a holiday celebrated by all ethnicities and religions. A holiday of renewal, the awakening of nature and a new beginning. May the will for a new beginning give energy to each one, to every family and to every home, with which together we can overcome the challenges and build a European, stable and secure Bulgaria. And “DPS-New” beginning will be the force that will guarantee the care for you and your better life. The best is yet to come! Happy holiday!”, the party's position to the media reads.

The leader of GERB – Boyko Borisov, in turn, posted a clip on his Facebook profile, which reads “Happy Day of Courage and Holiday of the Bulgarian Army”. The video shows military personnel and the Bulgarian anthem.

“Vazrazhdane” also sent a congratulatory message – both to the people and to their colleagues celebrating their name day.

“As a liberator of captives and a defender of the poor, a doctor of the infirm, a champion of kings, victorious great martyr George, prays to Christ God to save our souls. Happy holiday, Bulgarians! May all name days be happy! Happy name day to the Deputy Chairman of Vazrazhdane Georgi Georgiev and to our MPs Georgi Hrisimirov from Sofia and Georgi Georgiev from Haskovo region,” the party wrote on Facebook.

“Dear compatriots,

On May 6, we celebrate one of the most significant and unifying holidays in our cultural and spiritual tradition – St. George's Day and Hatherlez – the day that brings messages of spring, renewal, hope and prosperity. Today we also pay deep tribute to all Bulgarian military personnel on the occasion of the Day of Bravery and the Bulgarian Army. We bow our heads in gratitude to those who have defended and continue to defend our homeland with valor and selflessness. Hatherlez and St. George's Day are holidays that remind us how strong we can be when we are together – when we share, respect and preserve our different cultures and traditions. This is also at the heart of our cause – freedom, peace and unity in diversity. May the holiday bring health, fertility and prosperity to every home! May the spirit of courage and solidarity guide and inspire us! Happy holiday!”, the formation's post on Facebook reads. It is signed by its chairman Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dzhevdet Chakarov.
