A 32-year-old man from Plovdiv fell with his car under the pedestrian bridge over the Tundzha River in the city park of Yambol, BNR reported. The incident occurred shortly before 11 p.m. last night, no citizens were injured. The driver was admitted to the regional hospital.

The incident was reported to 112 by residents of nearby blocks of flats who heard a loud crash and saw the car falling into the river. Minutes later, several men jumped into the water to help the driver:

"There were three civilians, the others hadn't arrived yet", a witness said.

Seconds before that, the young man asked passersby where the road to Plovdiv was: "He stopped me here and asked me about the road to Plovdiv, I told him to drive straight and at the T-junction to turn left and he turned and fell into the river."

Citizens who were walking in the city park at that moment are shocked by what happened.

"I am truly grateful to God because my son came home a minute earlier, we were also walking and literally missed being hit by a minute," shared a passing citizen.

The case is ongoing, and later in the day the police are expected to Yambol to provide detailed information.
