We stepped on the corn, both Borisov and Peevski, and they reacted immediately. They know that 10 billion leva are currently hostage to their desire for Anton Slavchev to be the next head of the Anti-Corruption Commission, although this cannot happen under the current rules. This was stated by Kiril Petkov on the sidelines of the parliament after exchanging remarks with Boyko Borisov and Delyan Peevski regarding the figure of Anton Slavchev.
Kiril Petkov showed the draft resolution submitted by the PP-DB group to the 50th National Assembly, with a request to remove the chairman of the KPKONPI Anton Slavchev. Then it did not receive support from the majority.
"We wanted his resignation then, but GERB, MRF and BSP kept him", said Petkov.
Bogdan Bogdanov, who is a member of the Committee for Combating Corruption in the parliament, said that back in February, the PP-DB had requested that the procedural rules for electing the new Anti-Corruption Commission be submitted for consideration, and subsequently the body be formed.
"Then Raya Nazaryan replied that she needed a little patience and it was a matter of 7 to 10 days for these rules to be submitted for voting in the committee. Already 5 months after this meeting, there has been no movement on the rules. Every question about when this will happen is deflected," he said.
Kiril Petkov also commented on the photo that Delyan Peevski showed earlier today, which showed the co-chairman of "Continuing the Change" and Anton Slavchev.
"I am a free man. I walk on the sidewalks without security. I do not kidnap people in my offices, take them hostage and take pictures with them. In this case, I was freely moving on the sidewalk and saw Anton Slavchev," he said.
Kiril Petkov explained that the frame in question was taken a week ago, when, according to him, he saw the chairman of the CPKONPI on the street.
"What could we have said to ourselves when exactly 1 year ago we asked him to resign. The only thing I know is that Bulgaria cannot change when there is no institution that works against corruption. With Anton Slavchev, this cannot happen", he was categorical.
According to Kiril Petkov, the European Commission has categorically rejected the possibility of changing the procedural rules. He pointed out that one of the changes that the majority would like to make is related to lowering the votes required to elect the new leadership of the commission - to less than 160 votes.
"I know what was argued during the assembly. The votes must be 160 so that it is not a narrow party appointment or a coalition. Secondly, when people are selected, they must have some kind of assessment. When someone is assessed at the lowest level - they cannot be taken out of the bottom and made boss. This makes it very expensive to select the boss they want. "The European Commission is not giving them the opportunity to do their job," Petkov explained.
