Changes in the NA Rules of Procedure change the name of the PG of the people around Ahmed Dogan. This becomes possible after the parliamentary Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs approved the proposed amendments submitted by the Chairperson of the legislative body Natalia Kiselova, news.bg reports.
We recall that on 06.06.2025, a request was received in the National Assembly from MPs from the PG MRF-New Beginning to amend the Rules of Procedure for the Organization and Activities of the National Assembly. The request expresses the opinion that, in accordance with the principles of the rule of law, it is correct for the name and abbreviation of the parliamentary groups to correspond to the registration of the relevant parties or coalitions with the Central Election Commission for the relevant elections for members of parliament, provides reasons for this and requests an amendment to the Rules of Procedure and Organization of the National Assembly, according to which the name of a parliamentary group should not repeat the name or abbreviation of another parliamentary group.
DPS-New Beginning proposes the following amendments to the Rules of Procedure of the National Assembly: "The name or abbreviation of a parliamentary group cannot repeat the name or abbreviation of another parliamentary group, as well as of a political party or coalition of parties registered with the Central Election Commission for participation in the last elections for members of parliament, including by adding words, letters, digits, numbers or other signs to them".
In addition, it is also stated that a parliamentary group whose name or abbreviation is not in accordance with the requirements, shall adopt a decision to change its name within three days of the entry into force of this decision. If after the expiry of the term the name or abbreviation of a parliamentary group has not been brought into line with the requirements, the name of the political party or coalition of parties, as registered with the Central Election Commission for participation in the last elections for members of parliament, with whose list the members of parliament were elected, shall be entered as the name and abbreviation of this parliamentary group. The change shall be entered and announced immediately by the Speaker of the National Assembly.
