Chief Commissioner Miroslav Rashkov will be proposed by the government of the president for appointment to the position of Secretary General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This was announced by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov during a meeting of the Council of Ministers, quoted by bTV. 19 more ambassadors and 1 permanent representative to the UN will be proposed for appointment.
Rashkov is currently the acting Secretary General of the ministry. “The proposal is based on the work of the political leadership of the Ministry of Interior and the political neutrality of Miroslav Rashkov“, said the Minister of Interior Daniel Mitov at the meeting.
According to him, the work with Chief Commissioner Rashkov is in full synchrony and deserves the approval of the Council of Ministers, as well as that of the President, the Minister of Interior pointed out.
"During his service in the Ministry of Interior, Miroslav Rashkov gained significant professional experience," said Mitov. He added that Rashkov imposes a team principle, which leads to concrete positive results in the structures of the Ministry of Interior in preventing and solving crimes. "Miroslav Rashkov ensures very good interaction, both between the services of the Ministry of Interior and between the bodies of the judiciary", the Minister of Interior added.
Who is Miroslav Rashkov?
Miroslav Rashkov was born on December 9, 1972 in Shumen, according to the website of the Ministry of Interior. He graduated from the Veliko Tarnovo University "St. Cyril and Methodius" with a Master's degree in Business Administration. He completed training and professional training courses at the Academy of the Ministry of Interior. He also completed training at ILEA.
He was appointed to the Ministry of Interior in 2006. Until 2013, he was an intelligence officer and head of a group in the sectors "Economic Police" and "Criminal Police" at the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior (ODMVR) - Veliko Tarnovo. After that, his career continued at the General Directorate of the National Police, initially as an intelligence officer, then as head of a sector and subsequently as head of the Economic Police department. From 2017 to 2022, he was in the Criminal Police at the Directorate General of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications - Sofia, and from 2022 to 2023, he was head of the Money Laundering sector at the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime - Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Since July 12, 2023, he has been Deputy Director of the Directorate General for Combating Organized Crime. Since August 27, 2024, he has been reappointed Director of the Directorate General for Combating Organized Crime.
He has been awarded a number of distinctions and awards at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including the Medal of Honor and “Honorary Badge of the Ministry of Internal Affairs - III degree“, "Honorary Badge of the Ministry of Internal Affairs - II degree" from the Minister of Internal Affairs, thanks, praise, individual cash award.
