Today, December 29, 2025, Stefan Mavrodiev celebrates his 82nd birthday.
The prominent Bulgarian theater and film actor, director is one of the founders of the Youth Theater “Nikolay Binev“.
He was born on December 29, 1943 in Varna. He graduated from the acting department at the VITIZ “Krustyo Sarafov“ in 1967 in the class of Prof. Stefan Sarchadjiev and Metodi Andonov.
Most of his creative path is connected with the Youth Theater in Sofia. He is known for dozens of roles in classical and contemporary plays, as well as for his work as a director.
Mavrodiev is one of the emblematic figures of Bulgarian cinema. He has participated in over 50 films, including:
„The Goat's Horn“ (1972), „Crickets in the Ear“ (1976), „Mea podred mera“ (1981), „Zona B-2“ (1987)
He is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards, including the „Askeer“ award for lifetime contribution to theatrical art (2015) and the „Cyril and Methodius“ order.
He is the author of poetry collections and memoirs, often sharing his philosophy on art and life in interviews.
