Prof. Chirkov's brother buried his son and remembered with grief

A cruel tragedy struck the family of Prof. Alexander Chirkov, whom we lost at the end of 2020. His brother Dilyan buried his son Boris, and days later he himself remembered his child in grief. Both died in their native Lom, writes "Retro”, quoted by novini.bg.

Their death was announced by Boris's daughter — Gemma.

"God took my father Boris Chirkov from this world. Thank you, Dad, for being the best father in the world. You were my protector and my support. You were my pillar, my wealth. I love you daddy! I love you!", she wrote.

After 5 days, the girl shared on her Facebook profile that her grandfather Dilyan also passed away — brother of Prof. Chirkov. He could not get over the shock of his son's funeral and come to terms with the thought that he had outlived him. A little over a year ago, Dilyan became a widower after his wife Berta died. The entire Chirkovi family was shocked by the black streak in the family and thought it was a case of corruption.

85-year-old Dilyan Chirkov was not on good terms with his brother Alexander. The two sometimes fought, then reconciled. Some time ago, paparazzi caught the heart surgeon's relative queuing for food from the social kitchen in Lom. The professor's brother was filmed waiting for a slice of bread and stew next to homeless people. Although Prof. Chirkov was one of the most successful and wealthy doctors in our country, his 2 years older brother Dilyan counted his pennies to the last. The two did not speak to each other for more than 2 decades, did not hear from each other even on holidays.

The reason for their deteriorating relationship was more than banal — property dispute.

A quarter of an hour ago, the Chirkovs quarreled over a two-story house in the middle of their hometown of Lom, their relatives say. Dilyan thought it was logical for the doctor to cede his share of the inheritance to him. However, the professor saw no reason to give him up, as he had 4 children and grandchildren.

"I'm not in touch with my brother. I don't want to hear it and I don't want any of it. Actually, I don't have him as a brother anymore. They say that blood did not become water, but ours did and the water has long since frozen — it's ice," said the world-famous heart surgeon during his lifetime.

Prof. Chirkov lived in Germany but died in a hotel room in Barna in late autumn 2020 at the age of 82. He had returned to our place for work. His colleague found him lying on the ground after persistently ringing the phone.

Until his last breath, Chirkov was active and examined patients. He did not drink, did not smoke, led a healthy lifestyle and played sports. The luminary of native medicine was not buried in his native Lom, but was cremated and his urn was taken to Germany to that of his wife Marianne, who had passed away a year before him. Chirkov has two children from her — Alessandro and Carmen. From his first wife, Veselin is the father of two daughters — Gemma and Tatiana. All his heirs still live in Germany and do not keep in touch with their relatives here.
