Three Bulgarian girls have fulfilled their childhood dream and are now mermaids

Swimming like Ariel, it turns out, is not an easy task.

The first Bulgarian mermaid academy has opened its doors.

Petya Petkova, Maria Yordanova and Stella Bineva have fulfilled their childhood dream of being mermaids. They travel the world and are not afraid to dive deep. All the grace and finesse, however, requires a lot of practice and dedication.

"If we put on a mermaid tail, we never stand on hard surfaces. As much fun as it is, there are safety rules that must be followed," warns Petya. "The first thing to do is dip the fins in the water and just wave a few times. It's not easy to be a mermaid," added Maria on the air of NOVA, quoted by FOCUS.

"It looks very easy from the side, but it takes practice to get your bearings, to look underwater without goggles. You don't actually start to see better, you get used to it. It's basically called "mermaid fitness" - pretty good workout. You can train grace, flexibility," says Petya Petkova. She is the leader of the passage. On land, there is human work from 9 am to 5 pm in the cosmetics industry. Three years ago, however, she decided to take her hobby seriously. "During the pandemic, I told myself that life is short and one should do things one wants to do,", she recalls the beginning.

Dozens of mermaids join Petya's very real fairy tale. "I didn't believe there was such a thing at all. My mother told me - you are becoming a mermaid. And for me it was unheard of, unseen and everything started as a joke," says Stella.
