It was celebrated for the first time on the idea of the theologian Vaklush Tolev. In his book “Spiritual gifts of Bulgaria", volume II, there is a special chapter dedicated to the contribution of these 13 personalities to the history and path of Bulgaria.

These are Tsar Boris the Third – Unifier, Khan Asparukh, Prince Boris – Baptist, King Simeon – Enlightener, St. Kliment Ohridski – Alphabetical, St. Ioan Rilski – Patron, St. Patriarch Euthymius – Mystic and Warrior, Father Paisius – Buditel, Vasil Levski – Icon of Bulgarian freedom, Baba Tonka – Mother of Fearlessness, Prince Alexander Battenberg – Connector, Pencho Slaveykov - The insight of the Bulgarian genius, Vanche Mihailov – Warrior of the offended Bulgarians.
