The news of the day in Bulgaria is the statement of President Plevneliev on national air, namely - that the US ambassador in Bulgaria lobbied Sotir Tsatsarov to take the post of prosecutor general.

At that time, the US ambassador in Sofia was named James Warlick, who, after completing his mission in our country, started working for a Russian company. Coincidence?

This was commented on "Facebook" Stoyan Tonchev.

As the Prosecutor General of Bulgaria, Sotir Tsatsarov is known for his warm relations with the Russian Prosecutor General Chaika, whose son was later sanctioned by the US under the “Magnitsky”.

During Tsatsarov's time, Bulgarian prosecutors went to Moscow for training - to exchange experience in the fight against corruption with their Russian colleagues, and Chaika also arrived on a visit to Bulgaria.

“Bulgaria and Russia will exchange experience in adopting anti-corruption legislation, current issues related to warnings about corruption crimes, return of assets acquired through bribes and the formation of national contact centers for combating corruption.

This is clear from the Russian press release after today's meeting of Sotir Tsatsarov with his guest - the Prosecutor General of Russia Yuri Chaika.

The signed Program for Cooperation between the two institutions for the period 2017 - 2019 also provides for joint training events for employees of the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Bulgaria at the Academy of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation, the holding of round tables on topics such as countering the financing of terrorism, combating radicalization and violent extremism, and the experience of Russia and Bulgaria in these areas.

A delegation of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation has already arrived on a visit to Sofia, the Moscow department first announced.

The group is headed by Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika.

There was no announcement from the Bulgarian side for a long time. Eventually, it appeared, albeit with a great delay and quite general:

"On September 18, 2017, at the Courthouse, the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Sotir Tsatsarov, met with the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, Mr. Yuri Chaika. The heads of the prosecutors' offices of the two countries signed a Program for Cooperation between the two institutions for the period 2017 - 2019. Countering terrorism, combating radicalization and violent extremism, as well as countering transnational organized crime are the topics on which the prosecutors of the two countries will exchange practical experience - they write from there.

Mr. Chaika is on a two-day official visit to our country, in accordance with the Agreement on Cooperation between the Prosecutors' Offices of the two countries signed between him and the Prosecutor General, Prof. Boris Velchev, on October 9, 2008. Within the framework of this agreement, visits of Bulgarian prosecutors to Russia and of Russian prosecutors to our country are carried out annually. Practical issues such as the fight against organized crime and terrorism, as well as legislative initiatives related to these topics, are being discussed."

The delegation also includes the head of the Main Department for International Legal Cooperation Denis Grunis and other senior associates of the prosecutor's office.

From the Russian statement, we also learn that in addition to Tsatsarov, the group will meet with Vice President Iliana Yotova, Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, Justice Minister Tsetska Tsacheva, and also with Patriarch Neofit.

The Joint Program signed by both sides is described in more detail in the Russian statement and sets out basic guidelines for interaction between the countries such as the fight against crime, the protection of human rights, the interests of society and the state, countering terrorism, drug trafficking, corruption and illegal migration.”, writes “CLUB-Z” on September 18, 2017.
