Former England international David Beckham has been invited to support a takeover bid for Manchester United, writes the DPA agency, which adds to rumors about a consortium from the United Arab Emirates preparing to make a bid to buy the Glazer family's majority stake in the club, BTA reported.

According to local publications Star and Mirror, the consortium would like former United footballer Beckham to be an ambassador for the offer. This would give 50-year-old David Beckham, who already has stakes in Inter Miami and Salford, the opportunity to invest in Manchester United.

Beckham has criticised Glazer's tenure, calling on the Americans to sell their shares in 2023 and revealing he would be open to a future stake in the club.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe's Ineos Group took control of the football operations after buying a 27.7% stake in February 2024, which has since increased to nearly 29%. In March, Manchester United announced plans to build a new 100,000-seat stadium next to Old Trafford, but the results on the pitch have remained inconclusive.
