Bulgarian driver Nikola Tsolov made an excellent debut in Formula 2. The Bulgarian driver of Campos Racing was forced off the track twice on the last lap and finished in tenth position in the sprint at the Qatar Grand Prix, BTA reports. Tsolov recorded a seventh result in qualifying, and the inverted grid for the sprint allowed him to start from fourth place. The Bulgarian took advantage and in the first corner overtook Rafael Villagomez (Mexico, Van Amersfoort Racing), taking third place.

The leaders Richard Verschoor (Netherlands, MP Motorsport) and Joshua Dirksen (Paraguay, AIX Racing) broke away, but the column was brought together when the safety car appeared on the 15th lap. There were no changes after the restart and Tsolov remained third, continuing to set solid laps at Lusail.

However, on the final lap there was another restart after the safety car and Villagomez was overly aggressive, pushing Tsolov off the track in a direct battle for third place. This dropped the Bulgarian by several positions and he was later blocked again to drop to tenth place.

Verschoor won the race by 0.9 seconds ahead of Dirksen, and Villagomez took the last place on the podium before the review of the overtaking against Tsolov by the stewards and race control.
