Alice Robinson recorded a convincing victory in the giant slalom for the World Cup. The race was held in Copper Mountain, USA, reports BTA. With her success, she became the competitor with the most first places in history outside countries from Europe and North America. This was the fifth success for the skier from New Zealand, who overtook her compatriot and naturalized Austrian Claudia Riegler, who last raced in 2002.

Robinson was in the lead in the first run by 0.29 seconds ahead of Sweden's Sarah Hector and another three tenths ahead of Austria's Julia Scheib. After the race, the New Zealander said that she felt very confident on the fast surface in Colorado, but that changed in the shady sections in the second. She entered the slope catching up with Scheib, but performed flawlessly and finished with a total time of 1:58.91 minutes - 59.03 and 59.88 seconds.

Scheib eventually finished second after making two mistakes in her second run. Third was Norwegian Thea Louise Stiernesund, who also led in the second run for a short period of time.

The leader in the overall standings remains American Mikaela Shiffrin, who finished in 14th place with a deficit of 2.08 seconds from the first position. She has 268 points and 50 more than Albanian Lara Colturi, and Scheib is third with 88 deficit. However, it is the latter who is in the lead in the giant slalom with 180 points and 48 ahead of Robinson, as well as 75 more than Stiernesund.
