The Bulgarian Athletics Federation awarded Bozhidar Saraboyukov and his personal coach Dimitar Karamfilov with a 6,000 euro bonus each at a special ceremony at the "Vitosha" Hotel, BGNES reported.
The 21-year-old athlete from Harmanli earned the award for his bronze at the World Athletics Championships in Torun, Poland, in the men's long jump. This was Bulgaria's first medal at world championships in 16 years.
Aleksandra Nacheva and her coach Stoyko Tsonov were also honored at the ceremony.
Our triple jumper returned after 19 months out of the sector due to a severe ankle fracture and came eighth in the grand final. Nacheva and Tsonov were awarded 2,500 euros each.
The event was also attended by the president of the Bulgarian Football Association, Georgi Pavlov.
