CSKA has entered into negotiations for the early termination of Ivan Turitsov's contract, claims "Tema Sport", quoted by Topsport.
Last summer, the right-back was a foot and a half away from Borisova Gradina after his contract expired, but eventually re-signed, and at extremely inflated financial terms.
This was also one of the most striking mistakes of the previous operational management and in particular Filip Filipov, who admitted that he insisted that Turitsov stay at CSKA. The 25-year-old defender will remain in the "red" history with the penalty he missed in the penultimate round of the 2022/23 season against FC CSKA 1948. If he had scored, the "army men" would need a win over Levski to become Bulgarian champions for the 32nd time. Since then, the right-back's career has only gone downhill. Soon after, he lost the captain's armband after a scandal with fans during the 0:2 home loss to Sepsi, and then dropped out of the starting lineup. Last season, he was a solid reserve at the expense of Thibaut Vion.
Parting with Turitsov will not be easy, as it is unlikely that another club will find him where he would receive even half the salary he is currently signing for. The situation is similar with other players such as Jason Lokillo, Aaron Iseka and Liam Cooper. They are practically unsellable after their disappointing performance last campaign, to say the least, and their salaries weigh heavily on the budget. Therefore, CSKA is about to conduct tough negotiations with them to terminate their contracts.
"Army men" have already parted ways with Marcelino Careasso, Jonathan Lindseth and Stanislav Shopov, whose contracts expired and were not renewed. The three midfielders received offers from the management, but did not accept them, and the native international has even already signed with the Croatian Osijek. There is serious uncertainty about both the players and the coaching staff of the backup team.
