Levski coach Julio Velasquez said very nice words about his team after the dramatic loss to Braga after extra time, BTA reported.
"Thank you for the nice words. We faced a very big team that has a budget ten times larger. They can afford Pau Victor, there is talk that they will sell Roger for 40 million. This difference is not visible on the pitch in both matches. I think we played a great match today, we depersonalized them when they have the ball. We showed that we can take advantage of some of their weaknesses. Three opportunities come to mind where we could have decided the match. That's what we were missing. If we had scored the first goal, we would have continued. But I am extremely proud of my players and grateful to this audience that travels here. We have a match on Sunday and then we will think about Europe again," said the Spanish specialist.
"I don't think it is appropriate to draw such conclusions about transfers. I am very happy with my players, I know that we are doing everything possible to strengthen the squad. Obviously we expect more players to come to strengthen the team. But it is our duty to get the most out of the players we have," Velascos also said.
"Day by day, match by match", the coach answered when asked if Levski can fight for the title in Bulgaria and eliminate the Azerbaijanis from Sabah in the Conference League.
Levski's Portuguese defender Aldair Neves played a strong match against Braga, expressing his regret after the end.
"We gave it our all. We knew it would be a very difficult match, they are playing at home. Sometimes it works, other times - no, this time we didn't manage to score a goal", said the right-back, who was substituted during extra time.
"In every match we try to show our winning spirit, we go out for that. I think a good season is ahead for Levski, we have a very good team", he added.
"The next match is from the championship, it is very important with Slavia. We have to continue working hard and make our fans happy on Sunday", concluded Aldair.
