Sven Ulreich's son has died after a "long and serious illness", the Bayern Munich goalkeeper wrote on the social network Instagram on Friday, BTA reported.
"It is with deep sadness that we would like to announce that our son Len passed away a few weeks ago after a long and serious illness. The decision to make this public was extremely difficult for us, but this is an important step for our family to have clarity. Together with our daughter, we are now trying to find our way back to life step by step," Ulreich said.
He thanked Bayern for the "enormous support" provided by the club in recent months, but also asked for understanding and respect. The statement was signed by him and his wife Lisa. They did not reveal their son's age.
Bayern shared Sven Ulreich's post and expressed their condolences and sympathy.
"Everyone at the club mourns with you and your family. We are always with you," the Bavarian giants said.
