There are several agreements at the EU level that are on the horizon. One of them is the one with MERCOSUR. There is also one with India, and an agreement with Australia is also being prepared. The agreement with MERCOSUR has stirred up the spirits, and the problem is that there are sectors of agriculture that are not sufficiently covered by guarantees. This has extremely worried farmers throughout Europe, and in Bulgaria in particular. He announced this to Lili Marinkova in the studio “FACTI“ and the show “Conversation“ Stanislav Stoyanov, MEP from “Vazrazhdane“.
“We all know very well that the MERCOSUR countries are extremely highly developed in agriculture and highly export-oriented. This is the moment to say that Bulgaria's trade balance with them is negative. I fully understand the considerations and fears of Bulgarian farmers“, added the guest.
“During the debates on the deal with MERCOSUR, the tension was very serious between the individual groups. In Bulgaria, support was given “for“ by voting, and the Bulgarian MPs who fiercely supported this agreement with MERCOSUR owe an explanation. Let them come up with arguments why they insist on this agreement entering into force, since key sectors of the Bulgarian economy, such as agriculture, have legitimate concerns about it. Whether European production will be able to break into the international market tomorrow, if compared to products from Mercosur, is a serious question“, Stoyanov also shared.
