Former French President Nicolas Sarkozy will find out on Monday when he will have to go to prison after his historic five-year prison sentence in the Libyan financing case of his 2007 election campaign, Agence France-Presse reported, quoted by BTA.

He will also learn which detention center he will be placed in.

The verdict against Sarkozy was pronounced on September 25. Before him, no former French head of state or former head of state of an EU country had been imprisoned, Agence France-Presse notes.

Sarkozy says he is innocent and is appealing the court decision. However, he will end up behind bars while his appeal is being considered.
