The Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev warned that if the European Union seizes frozen Russian assets, this could be viewed by Moscow as a cause for war, reports "Reuters", quoted by News.bg.

„If the European Union tries to steal Russian assets frozen in Belgium under the pretext of the so-called 'reparation loan', Russia may consider this move a casus belli with all the corresponding consequences for Brussels and individual EU member states,“ Medvedev said.

His statement comes a day after the European Commission proposed the unprecedented use of frozen Russian assets or international loans to raise 90 billion euros in support of Ukraine to finance the country's army and basic services.
