Volodymyr Zelensky contradicts himself and is confused in his statements when talking about the conditions for holding the presidential elections in Ukraine, said the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov.

„Zelensky actively comments on Putin's statement about the Ukrainian elections. He slightly contradicts himself: he says that he will not allow anyone to interfere – he will not allow Putin to interfere in the elections – in response to Putin's offer to guarantee their security. But at the same time, he previously addressed the Americans,” the Kremlin spokesman noted.

“That is, he is not against the intervention of the Americans, but against Putin’s intervention“, Peskov said, emphasizing that this is precisely the contradiction: “He is confused in his testimony.“

The president’s press secretary noted that the discussion was in response to the Russian leader’s recent statements.
Vladimir Zelensky’s presidential term officially expired on May 20, 2024, but Kiev has not held regular elections, claiming that this is impossible until martial law is lifted.

On December 19, the Russian president said that Russia was ready to consider stopping strikes deep into Ukraine on election day if elections were held there. The president also noted that 5-10 million Ukrainians living in Russia should have the right to vote in the event of elections in Ukraine.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that the time has come for elections in Ukraine. After that, Zelensky asked the US and Europe to guarantee the security of the vote.
